Man, I wish I could’ve been there for this announcement. Not like I could’ve possibly been at the NYCC, but it would’ve been neat. I like how they’re doing a sub-only release just to get it out there as soon as possible. I wonder if there’ll be special editions, or if it’ll just be a no-frills priced down sub-only affair. Who knows!!

Sorry for the delays. I’ll try to make a comic by next week, but I’m swamped with projects… Oh, you want to know about Mistakes of Youth being published, don’t you? Ok. I take it you all read Patrick’s blog (and if you don’t you suck.) Well, if you do read his blog, you’d know that he is now the editor in cheif and an upcoming magazine called Otaku USA. What does this have to do with me? Well, I’ll be making a comic for each issue. They didn’t really put any creative constraints on me, so I think it’ll be fine so long as each comic is funny. So, with that in mind, I’ve just decided to make it a print version of Mistakes of Youth. Now, the comics in Otaku USA will not be the comics on the site for a variety of reasons. One reason is, the size. When I make comics for the site I do the comic construction work in 72 dpi (character art is done in 300 dpi though.) For the magazine, I have to do everything in 300 dpi. Also, given this is a general audiences magazine, the jokes can’t be as obscure as they are here. Sure, I’ll still be rude and angry, but I’ll just talk about more general anime related things. It’s kind of like what Ian did for Inside Mac Gaming a few years back. I’m in the dark as to what the rest of the magazine will be like, so I’ll be as surprised as you all are when it first hits. Please check it out once it hits in June!

Hideaki Anno recently released a statement regarding his feelings on remaking Evangelion (or shall I say, Wevangeriwon) in the form of a movie poster that was distributed across Japan.

Ok, this in itself is badass, having a movie poster that is really just a bunch of words. It takes something, I don’t know what, but something to do something wacky like that. Not only that, but the what is written on the poster is nothing short of awe inspiring.

This comic is kind of lazy. I spent a lot of time on the buildings in the first panel, then just kind of rushed the rest of it. I think the comic as a whole looks fairly decent, though. I really don’t like resorting to random blurs as backgrounds, but it looks ok here. As far as the script goes, this was one of those ideas that I got as I was drifting off to sleep. Not sure if I should really used half baked ideas like that, but apparently some people found it funny… and some didn’t. It was funnier at 2am as I was falling asleep, not so much now. In any case, it’s the holiday special and holiday specials are supposed to suck, right? Right? I’ll try better for the new year orz
