Gurren Lagann 4 and Jigoku Shoujo Futagomori

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

This is one awesome kid’s show.

Watched Gurren Lagann episode 4 again, and I do have to say that the character animation was pretty dismal. I do appreciate that there is a degree of artistic merit and style in the work, but it’s just totally unappealing to me. This kind of work only works in context. Basically, keep the Studio 4c in Studio 4c, please. Not in my Sunday morning cartoons. Work like this really has no place in mainstream works in general, especially coming out of the blue like it did here. I can understand the desire to experiment, but when you’ve already set a standard, something like this is totally off putting.

WiP: Hazuki

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

Yeah, I don’t know how exactly this happened. All this morning I couldn’t stop drawing little girls. First it was Kyon’s sister in a bikini, then it was random girlish parts (arms, legs faces), then it was another random loli in little clothing, then I started to draw one laying down, and it turned into Hazuki. She was supposed to be naked at first, then I remembered I was around people, so I figured I had to cover her in some way so I don’t look like a total perv. I think the stuff I gave her just makes this picture more perverted though…

This was just meant to be a doodle, but I wholly intend on colouring this now. But first, I need to do the second OTAKU USA comic and the next comic for the site.

Hmm, speaking of Tsukuyomi, do you reckon the volumes 2 out there still have the postcards? I got one used, and of course it didn’t come with any, but I kind of want them now, and I do have 20 dollars left on this Best Buy gift card…

Original Post

Anime Boston sketch dump. Quick and easy. Comics like these aren’t really funny, I guess. They’re just things that happened. You kind of had to have been there to divine any kind of humour out of these situations. I’d write more about the con but I kind of forgot it all. That, and I don’t feel like it. Check this blog post instead. NSFW, btw.

Anime Boston 2007 Damage Report (NSFW)

Podcasts, a comic and further photos to follow (I really didn’t take many though. Seriously, no more than 10, tops.) For now, the loots. If for some reason porn offends you, don’t read further!

Orignal Post

I generally don’t enjoy being serious here. In fact, I generally don’t enjoy being serious at all. But sometimes, certain things just need to be addressed. I’m sure by now anyone who lives in the US would have heard about the Virginia Tech shooting. Usually something like this wouldn’t dwell in my mind for too long, but this one hit a little close to home. I have a cousin that goes to VTech. Thankfully she is ok, but it kind of made me realize that these kinds of thing do have a chance happening to me and people I know. It’s kind of a scary thought.

Anyway, moving on to more pleasant matters…

So I guess I should make a Lucky Star post…

…but I won’t. I’ll save my thoughts for the up and coming season review podcast, featuring two brand new speakers. I liked it though. I may have even, dare I say, loved it. I hear there’s some internet faggot anime blog drama over this because most bloggers have no taste and are like fake otaku or something. I dunno, I don’t read many anime blogs because they suck. Once one gets a healthy daily dose of Macias, Alt and Shingo, everything else begins to look awfuly amature…

Death Note 25

Friday, April 13th, 2007

Did Hideaki Anno just bust into Mad House for no reason crying “WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT” then proceed to sit down and write, storyboard and direct Death Note episode 25? That’s probably not the case at all, as I doubt Anno is even the least bit interested in Death Note, but damn that episode was so fucking Anno I nearly cried tears of justice. Well, I guess it would be more tears of pretentious arty directing.

First Eva movie titled

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Found via Randall, who’s less of Eva fan than I am, so I’ll announce this with some enthusiasm.

The first new Eva film has been titled Evangelion Shin Gekijouban: Jyo, which apparently means Evangelion New Motion Picture: Prologue. Simple, generic, but effective. Oh, I suppose it’s Wevengeriwon now, given the new spelling… :P

The official site has the new Nerv and Seele logos up. They’re neato torpedo. Especially the Seele logo. Religious symbolism ++

Art Site Update: Mikuru At The Seaside

The art site has been updated with a picture of Mikuru by the sea. Safe for work, for once.
