Bandai saves Gurren Lagann from the depths of license hell
Posted On April 19, 2008
Subbed only, first DVD hits in July. Dub release in 09.
Man, I wish I could’ve been there for this announcement. Not like I could’ve possibly been at the NYCC, but it would’ve been neat. I like how they’re doing a sub-only release just to get it out there as soon as possible. I wonder if there’ll be special editions, or if it’ll just be a no-frills priced down sub-only affair. Who knows!!
Anyway, I’m a bit too tired to get excited about this, so instead have this picture of Nia

Yeah, I’m excited about the anouncment. If I save enough money, I might just buy both versions. However, this does make me wonder on about what the hell is going on at ADV to make them lose the liscense.
Grrrr, while I am glad that it’s finally coming out, my amazon order is dated from FEBUARY! I feel kinda happy, while upset at the same time.
Anyone else going to wait for the dub to see how it is, or should I just go ahead and nab the sub release? Part of me feels like it’s half a disk without dubs, however bad they might be.
According to Wikipedia, Sci-Fi Channel just acquired the TV rights. Scheduled for a late July release. This could turn out to be a good thing or a bad thing.
Also…let’s face it: it’s Wikipedia.
It’s been announced at places not Wikipedia.
