This sucks, i been waiting for Genshiken 9 forever now and when it finally comes out i forget to save money. I will not be able to buy for about 2 weeks :’l.
Doesn’t end that well, but it is rough ending a comedy series. The parts with Sue and Sasahara/Ogiue are good, but the Japanese “fear of confrontation” rears up and the book sorta just ends. I wish they had kept up the otaku aspect of the series more, a problem that Welcome to the NHK suffers from as well. As a mangaka, you know, you have the right to do what you want in your series, but it can be irritating when the defining element of the series gets kicked to the back of the bus in favor of something else, the most likely being emo romance (NHK) or endless fighting (Shonen Jump). Sure, those are good for bringing dramatic weight, but don’t sacrifice everything else your book has got going for it.

Loved Susie’s dialogue – catching her references makes her kind of a mini-Paniponi Dash. “I think that dirty thoughts are bad!”
