DAMMIT JAPAN, STOP MAKING ME WANT TO BUY LUCKY STAR. YOU KNOW I’LL BUY THE SPECIAL EDITIONS. I KNOW YOU KNOW.
Before anyone says anything, yes, his neck is supposed be messed up like that. It makes that last panel all the more frightening. Maybe I should have added some CRACK CRACK sound effects.
Wanted to get this one out quick while the news was still kind of fresh. It’s already pretty old now, but better to post it now than this Saturday! This comic may be overreacting, though, because I just went on Nico and it seems people are still uploading MADs despite this BS. I wonder if that’ll change in a week from now? My mylist has suffered only minor damage thus far, with the Akagi/Hidamari Sketch op crossover being the only loss. Good thing I saved that!
This comic is ok. For some reason drawing people straight on is totally difficult, so I had to fix up a lot of things, mostly Tina. And even after fixing up Tina a lot, I still missed the giant mistake on her shirt. Oh well. She still looks kind of hot, right? Panel two is kind of messed up, as well. Way too angular and pointy. I do like that background, though. For those who can’t tell, it’s the side of a big-ish building. It’s a great hangout for teenagers!
That’s all for today. Hopefully I’ll have a comic up for next Saturday, but don’t count on it.

What the fuck, dude?
Why would anyone get rid of the sole reason why people visit their site? It’s like if a restaurant suddenly announced that they would stop serving food. It’s exactly like that. The Nico community is mostly built around parodies on copyrighted material, so naturally a good number of the videos on the site will contain copyrighted material. If you get rid of that, you’re basically killing the community. Simple as that. And really, it’s not like MAD movies or even openings and endings are full episodes. Why get rid of them? I said it once, and I’ll say it again– telling fans not to produce fanworks based on your product (in this case, MAD movies) is basically the same as telling them not to love your product. Do these uptight suits with giant metal rods up their arses realize that these things are pure expressions of love? These guys making these things love your product, you motherfuckers! Jesus Christ.
I really feel betrayed. Nico always struck me as a cooler, more personal version of Youtube with a proper community that felt like family you never knew. The fact that kumikyoku and MAD movies will be gone really makes me sour. Where will the community go? Is an invasion of YouTube in order? Will some random JP anon make his own Nico clone? Who knows…
I can only hope that Nico eventually sees the errors in their ways and fixes things up, but I highly doubt it.
(Yes, I wrote this instead of watching Megazone 23. It’s too late for that, anyway…)
I really like how this comic came together. Everything from the lineart, to the colouring, to the backgrounds looks almost exactly as planned. I’m sure there are rough patches here and there, but I really like this one. I’ve actually kind of been practicing at drawing things I’m not too good at (like girls lol) and I think the fruits of that practice shows here. The lineart for the comic after this one looks pretty good, too. As far as scripting goes, I guess the humour here lies more in the comments than it does in the script. If you haven’t already guessed, this comic is a Nico Nico Douga parody, and like Nico offers, here’s a version of the comic with comments “turned off” for those who want it. But the comic’s only funny with self-depreciating comments like “kore wa hidoi” anyway!
Another week, another Anime Blog Award awarded, it seems. This time it’s the blogger’s choice Gold Award for best blog comic. So yeah, thanks to you guys who voted in that.
Since I actually know how to find The Important Things on Nico Nico now, I’ll probably be posting shit from there a lot when I have nothing else to do. That said, I did not find the video I’m about to post– it was brought to my attention by Link down at Super Youkai Warhead. If you have an account, click away. If not then… I’m too lazy to find it on YouTube. Besides, this shit’s better with wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww all over the screen.
Everyone knows about Nico Nico Douga, and because everyone knows about it, videos have been disappearing from its pages with YouTube-like efficiency as of late. This bothers me greatly, since my MyList looks something like this at the moment, but I must admit the way in which they go about deleting videos is far more hilarious than YouTube’s cold, soulless text. See, what they do is replace a deleted video with one of their own, and it usually contains a narration about the video’s deletion matched to some very random visuals. As such, it is very much impossible to get angry at them.
Here’s a particularly good one.
Oh yeah.
On the topic of Nico Nico, I’d like to link this one video which has been topping the rankings lately. Give it a look if you have an account.
