Yes, my sweet. Yes, my sweetest. I wanna get back Where you were.

Now to make a post that’ll get no comments at all. Thank God for that, huh!

There’s a new Nadesico pachinker game that opened up in Akiba, and as such there’s been something of a Nadesico advertising blitz going around. Last time I was there with Nocturnesb there was a giant trunk driving around with Yurika’s and Ruri’s faces plastered on it, and today there was a cute woman outside of the station dressed as a Nerval employee handing out… what I assume is a fan.

Then, while looking for the Saki taco truck (it wasn’t there, guess it only appears on weekends) I ran into a guy handing out Nadesico tissues. A Nadesico DOUBLE DOSE. Man, I am sure getting to burning.

In my attempt to not spend any money at all with Comic Market approaching, I ended up buying things. Cheap things that I wouldn’t find this cheap ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD, but still. I need  my doujinshi. I haven’t even paid for a Summer Wars ticket, yet!

These deals were too good to pass up, though.

Three semesters of Japanese have taught me this

This is an issue of Megami Creators, also acquired from when I raided Seiya’s house. This issue features the work of Shaa–you know, the Nogizaka Haruka artist—and on the cover it reads “Shaa ga kuru.” Those in know will recognize that this is also the name of Char Aznable’s theme song. しゃあ and シャアsound exactly the same, just in hiragana it’s the Nogizaka Haruka artist, and in katakana it refers to The Red Comet.

Man, my Japanese professor sure would be proud!

Must… resist…. temptation… to… buy… Megami 104. Must… save… money…

This picture would be my wallpaper, if this picture wasn’t already my wallpaper. Now someone needs to scan the Ichigo Mashimaro poster and I’ll be a happy lolicon.

GODDAMMIT JAPAN, STOP TEMPTING ME. I’M TRYING TO SAVE MONEY.

And there’s also many others that have yet to be scanned! I want the Strike Witches, Tora Dora! and Kodomo no Jikan ones!

Books 09/03/08

Man, I’m really trying my best to save money. But I walk into Tokyo Kid all the time and buy nothing, so I figure today I may as well invest in two things I’m interested in. Strangely enough, they’re not weird things like bedsheets or pillow cases! They’re books! Like, with words!

Faust vol 1: A collection of written and illustrated fiction along with some essays. Despite having some xxxHolic short story and a bit of Kara no Kyoukai, I bought it because there’s some essay about the evolution of otaku. And hey I guess the Kara no Kyoukai book can’t be too bad, right? I mean the anime is pretty ok.

The book’s localization has big names like Andrew Cunningham working on it, so the translation work is most probably impeccable.

Shinigami no Ballad vol 2: I got the first volume of this for free, and I liked it so much that I decided to actually buy the next one. According to MyAnimeList there’s 10 of these, so provided the stories don’t get too repetitive, I’ll read this thing to the end.

There’s some other books I’ve seen around that I want to get as well, but haven’t because I need to save cash for DVDs. Black Lagoon volume 1 looks promising, but for some reason it’s like 12 dollars. I have no idea why this is– maybe it can also make fries. I also wanna get Megami Deluxe vol 1, because it’s a decent collection of Megami posters I don’t have. The copy they have at Border is kind of funky though, like too many curious little boys have flipped through it.

The fruits of my free issue of Megami 99

Story is, almost a month ago I got the March issue of Megami from J-list. The mag came in one piece, but was kind of bent up due to a poor choice in shipping materials (a thin as fuck paper envelope with DO NOT BEND written on it in black Sharpie.) Once I got back into contact with my Friend in Japan, I complained to him, and he in turn complained to the rest of company. Minutes later I received an email from a J-list employee offering to replace the damaged magazine. However, they were out of issues of March Megami (I took the last one w) so he offered to send me the latest issue. I immediately canceled my order for this new issue on Animenation and took up the good man’s offer.

This is probably the most value I’ve gotten out of an issue of Megami, since I hung up all the posters except for one. Pretty good, especially since I paid absolutely zero for it. It is at this point that I’d like note favourite posters, but all of them are so good that I’d just list them all. A good lead up to issue 100, which is sure to be quite epic.

Also, I tried to put all of these up without taking down in posters. After some slight rearranging of things, I managed to get them all up, and as such I’m nearly out of wallspace. Eventually I’ll take new pictures of my otaku lair, complete with the hug pillows and bedsheets I normally hide when I’m at home– just for the full experience.

Poster Upgrade

Liking where the flash is falling in that last pic.

I’d love to put up the Kure-nai poster, but I’m currently in my parents’ house, and the Kure-nai poster is one of a naked seven-year-old taking a bath. I mean, I’m already pushing it with the Kojika and Yotsunoha posters. I also ordered the March Megami from J-List because it had that poster of Kokonoe Rin covered in nothing but chocolate. Won’t be able to put that one up, either.
