I thought it was great, but I just like Nagai's stuff in general. I'd recommend reading the Manga of Mazinger Z instead, but that's purely based off my experience with the Getter Robo manga and the ridiculous changes they made for the anime to avoid making people angry. And just a warning - you'll have to go through a LOT of Monster of the week episodes until you see Count Blocken. I think your the only person I know who thinks the Devilman manga was terrible… not that I know many people who’ve read it in the first place. As for Mazinkaiser, the final battle between Mazinkaiser and the Baron Asura mechanobeast was my favoirte part of the series.
