MoY Podcast 2 BEYOND THE TIME: Episode 7– Code Geass Ends: Oranges, Oatmeal and Hay
Posted On October 10, 2008
Bonertown and I go on for an hour on how useless Code Geass season 2 was. Lots of spoilers abound, as usual, so listen with that in mind. This one isn’t just filled with spoilers for Code Geass, though– it has Death Note and Gundam 00 spoilers, as well. There’s also a BIG Cowboy Bebop spoiler that everyone should know by now.

Ratings, who cares? DVD sales are FABULOUS, so somebody’s making money over this at least.
Goro Taniguchi wanted to quit because of the delays at the end of S1 (remember the months of wait between 23 and 24+25? That wasn’t a “good thing” for him either) and I guess some of the initial changes for R2 too, if you recall that…but he doesn’t seem that depressed in the most recent interviews he’s given in Newtype about the final result of R2 and whatnot.
Right now he’s a producer on that extremely crappy Kurogane no Linebarrel (talk about a useless show…R2 is gold compared to that), but then again we all know GONZO has crappy writing and directing in general anyways, and that’s being handled by other random guys, not Taniguchi.
Oh, right…I am totally tsundere for this podcast episode but I will spare you more details, good and bad.
I mostly agree what you guys had to say about Code Geass. The middle of R2 really blew, but the end wrapped up nicely (though, with CC still around, a sequel could still possibly occur, though preferably as far off into the future as possible).
I won’t assert my opinion on 00. I agreed with you assertion that the first episodes were boring as hell, but I really don’t agree with a lot of what Bonertown had to say that much (except the part about Christina and her Bionic Man boyfriend. Their deaths really did come out of nowhere. The more important death at the end, Lockon’s, actually had emotional significance). The ending for season 1 really didn’t feel rushed at all, compared to something like Destiny it was actually paced well.
Anyways, Wildarms, you going to watch it from where you left off, or are you going to start with Season 2?
If I were to give it a shot I’d watch all of season 1 and season 2.
Toru Furuya is in it. Would that give you more reason to watch it? Like what others said the first ten episodes were boring and slow paced. I was almost gonna drop it but the latter half of first season was surprisingly good. It’s not as epic as Zeta or the weird yet awesome Turn A but 00 is one of the decent Gundam shows. It’s lot better than SEED Destiny and that’s enough for me. My only gripe is the Yun Kouga character designs, it’s probably has something to do with my gf forcing me to watch all twelve episodes of Loveless with her.
As I said you should give it a shot. I think it becomes really as it goes on and season 2 had a good opener. Even if you don’t like it, at least you’ll get a comic out of it.
