You guys are trying too hard to rationalize the hate of the INTERNET HATE MACHINE but the situation is very simple: If something gets too popular on an imageboard, it will be hated with and without logic reason.

I’d say your problem is more with Gainax fanboys than Gainax itself if that’s your problem. I can definitely agree fan boys are always annoying.

Well, it isn’t that they take chances, but I guess that since Evangellion, people have had the same problem with Gainex that Wildarms has with Bones. A lot people think that everything that comes out of Gainex is pure gold, and remember to this day mention Evangellion and you’ll get a shit storm on whether it is the best/worst anime ever.

When you say “discuss” are you sure you don’t mean “troll”? Finding a thread that doesn’t start out as or immediately devolve into troll bait and rapid fan boy ranting isn’t exactly a common occurrence there. I do browse /a pretty often to get some cheap laughs though regardless :)

I personally like 4chan since since drama can fade in and fade out with little consequence. I like it because it can be an interesting place to discuss mecha, games, and anime; where everyone thinks their right and everyone else is wrong. I like it for the memes. I like it because of anonymous posting. I like it because /b/ disgusts me.

However, 2chan is probably superior in everyway, but from what I’ve read offhand is that it is just as overdramatic as its American counterpart.

You know, in this one week or so that I’ve been exposed to 4chan after like… 4 years… I can’t say I see the appeal! I like 2chan better, as I can’t understand anything unless I put effort into it.

Well because the love for Gurren Lagann is so high, the opposite has to exist. Their hate by Gurren Lagann is fueled by posts about how awesome GL is, pics of Kamina or Yoko, and Garhalla Vice fanart.

A lot of people don’t like it out of it being Gainex and its sheer popularity. Others find it unoriginal (though its homage to old mecha is part of what makes it great) and others on /m/ are real robot/Gundam/Transformer fanatics. Generally on /m/ Gurren Lagann is loved by a third of the people on it, another third thinks it is allright yet overatted, the other third hates it with a passion.

Unless they, you know, lack balls. Or a basic sense of what’s generally entertaining to normal people. Or something.
