I mean, it looks unique but it somehow lacks depth. The best examples for Shinbo's flaws is The Soul Taker and Le Portrait de Petite Cossette. Both have an impressive visual language but somehow it is quite shallow in its meaning. I see Shinbo as someone who wants to make people believe his style was great but doesn't exactly know what he actually wants to express. This works well in Pani Poni Dash because of the absurd nature of the show but it fails in serious scences. But this might as well be only my opinion.
